Catherine Sharp

New York-based Catherine Sharp, known professionally as CSharp, is a beauty and fine-art photographer whose broad background also includes documentary, advertising, and biomedical work. She has been on shoots which have appeared in prominent publications such as W magazine, Woman’s Day, and Vice. After graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she studied advertising photography, CSharp worked for legendary German lensmaker Zeiss as a photography specialist and social media liaison, and as a marketing manager and trade show specialist for New York retail giant B&H Photo. Her mentors include renowned music photographer Clay Patrick McBride, biomedical photographer Michael Peres, and commercial director Steve Giralt. CSharp recently earned her master’s in digital photography from New York’s prestigious School of Visual Arts, where she created a series of fine-art portraits called Letting Go. These images use high-speed flash photography and water to elicit instantaneous reactions from her subjects, and exhibited as large-format metal prints this at Manhattan’s SVA Gramercy Gallery and Photoville.
